Cheddar’s Homemade Chicken Pot Pie

If you’re hankering for comfort food, chances are good that you picture a steaming pot pie. Many Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen guests feel the same — our signature Homemade Chicken Pot Pie is our third most popular menu item, with about 1.4 million pies served to guests every year. It’s the quintessential comfort food.

Why Is It So Tasty?

This is not a pie where you dig and dig but still can’t find more than a few small pieces of meat. Each pot pie contains a generous half-pound of chicken from our beloved, hand-cut Chicken Tenders.

We prep fresh onions, carrots and peas with care and sauté them to the perfect degree of tenderness. Then, milk and water is thickened with a scratch-made roux, a mixture of flour and butter that helps create a tasty sauce base. It’s transformed into a savory cream sauce, and we add in the sautéed vegetables and chicken, topping it off by hand with a light, flaky crust. The pot pie, which has graced our menu for 25 years, is served with house salad topped with fresh-cut tomatoes, egg, carrots, cheese and house-made croutons.
