#InspireGoodness with Your Kids

School’s out for summer, and with all of this newfound free time and beautiful weather, people start making plans and preparing bucket lists for their summertime adventures! They plan for road trips, days at the beach, weekends in the canyon and picnics at the park.

In addition to all those fun activities, why not toss some service into the mix! There are so many different ways to #InspireGoodness with your family this summer, and while you’re enjoying yourself engaging in these acts of goodness, you’re also making your community a better place!

Here are a few ideas that will get the whole family excited to #InspireGoodness.

Walk the Dogs at the Local Animal Shelter

It’s always fun to go see all the puppies at the pet store, but you know what would be even more fun? Getting to take the dogs out for a walk!

Unfortunately, you can’t do that with the puppies at the pet store, but the dogs at the local animal shelter would be more than thrilled to go take a stroll around town. Give your local shelter a call and see how your family can #InspireGoodness in the lives of homeless dogs.

Leave No Trace on Your Summer Adventures

Just because you’re out at the beach or gathered around a campfire doesn’t mean that you can’t inspire a bit of goodness at the same time.

Set aside a half hour or so and take a walk around the beach, the park or your campsite and pick up any litter you see. The trash may not belong to you, but it’s up to all of us to keep areas like this clean and beautiful so we can continue to enjoy the outdoors.

Take Turns Giving Compliments

If you’re at the mall or at the grocery store, take turns with your kids in giving compliments. Not to each other, but to other people in the store. If you like someone’s shoes, tell them! If you think someone has really well-behaved kids, tell them!

Each of you can take turns at identifying something positive about someone else and then telling them. It will totally brighten up their day!

Get Out and Volunteer!

There are so many different ways you can volunteer and give service in your community, and it’s a great way to get outdoors and #InspireGoodness with your family! You can either organize your own service efforts or you can join up with an organization.

Habitat for Humanity is a great place to find service opportunities in your area. They’ve been around for more than 40 years with the noble cause of helping people toward home ownership.

Other places you can search for volunteer and service opportunities in your community are websites like JustServe.org, VolunteerMatch.org, UnitedWay.org and CreateTheGood.org.
