At Cheddar’s, we’re always looking for new and innovative ways to please your taste buds. Whether that be with a delicious, made-from-scratch meal or an artfully crafted beverage, we do our very best to prepare great-tasting fare for your entire family. And we’re always looking for ways to continually innovate our menu so we can add fresh new flavors that we know you and your taste buds will love.
One of those ways was turning to DFW culinary students aspiring to be chefs.
This past April, we partnered up with our friends at Medical City Children’s Hospital and hosted a cooking competition in hopes of finding fresh new recipes that we could feature on our Kids Menu. We wanted to feature new menu items that were both healthy and tasty.
Instead of throwing on our own aprons and heading to the kitchen, we recruited the help of some of the most creative young culinary minds in the greater DFW area and had them create the dishes for our Kids Fit Menu.
Four teams of two chefs each put their cooking skills to the test and set out to cook up a winning recipe. Each chef duo whipped up a nutrition-packed dish that was presented to a panel of judges that included people such as President of Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen Ian Baines and Chopped Junior winner Tara O’Donnell.
We couldn’t be more proud of these culinary students ability to create healthy foods that tasted great and appealed to a younger audience.
We will be featuring the winning dishes from the Kids Fit cooking competition on our Kids Menu in 9 DFW Cheddar’s restaurants, including Bedford, Garland, Allen, Dallas (Greenville Ave. & LBJ Freeway locations), The Colony, Arlington, Irving and Mesquite! Chef Abelardo Villegas and Chef Hope Cachay’s Pizza Dippers and Chef Kaitlyn Flenker and Chef Vivian Martin’s Honey Lime Chicken Wrap will take their place on our brand-new kids menu for a limited time.
Bring the whole family in and have your kids sink their teeth into some made-from-scratch goodness to satisfy their appetites!
