Recipes That Add Oomph to Ramen

For those of you who are headed back to college, may we guess what you’ll be eating as your first meal back?

Ramen. Ramen, ramen and more ramen!

Instant ramen is the staple of any dorm room, and it has been faithfully feeding college students and noodle fans since it was invented in 1958. But even though ramen may have great flavor and is super cheap to buy, there’s just not a whole lot nutritionally in each little package to give you all you’ll need to be an A student.

Here are some recipes that will keep instant ramen part of your daily intake, but add a bit of oomph to your instant-noodle dish.

Pizzoodle

How could you go wrong with ramen and pizza all at the same time? You can’t! This recipe for Pizzoodles doesn’t take any baking or mixing — just a package of ramen, some tomato sauce and all your favorite pizza toppings!

Instant ramen + pizza = goodness!

Ramen Pot Pie

We here at Cheddar’s know the value of a good chicken pot pie, but this recipe for Ramen Pot Pie takes our favorite comfort food and mixes it together with everyone’s favorite college food. It’s packed with protein, veggies and carbs, so you’ll be more than prepared to take on that 5000-level course you’ve been worried about.

Taco Ramen

Have you ever had taco salad that had noodles in it? Well, what better time than now to add some Asian fusion into the Mexican-food favorite.

This recipe for Taco Ramen calls for some of the most sabroso taco ingredients — fire-roasted tomatoes, sweet corn, cilantro, cheese and grilled chicken — and blends it all together in something oh-so satisfying. In fact, you’re supposed to boil the diced tomatoes with the noodles, making for flavor-infused noodles. So good!

Ramen Noodle Grilled Cheese Sandwich

This recipe doesn’t just call for a couple of cooked ramen noodles and a slice of cheese in between two slices of bread; this recipe is for bread made out of ramen noodles!

All you need to grill yourself a Ramen Noodle Grilled Cheese Sandwich is some ramen, a slice of cheese and an egg. Surely, every college student will have at least those in the fridge!

Ramen Burgers

From the same family as the Ramen Noodle Grilled Cheese Sandwich come Ramen Burgers. Not only does this recipe take you step by step through turning ramen noodles into a hamburger bun, but it also helps you grill up a tasty burger as well.
